Many entered but only one team remained standing … The Blood Show!
It was a rainy Saturday afternoon on October 18, 2008. Twelve teams and 100 people descended upon the Foggy Bottom bar known as McFadden’s. Over the next three hours, they faced off against one another for the coveted Golden Keg award. But nine kegs later, only one team remained victorious! Congratulations to The Bloody Show from the Adams Morgan Division and captained by Matthew Mullin. Division Champions included Game On! from the District Division and Beer Kills the Alcohol from the Constitution Division.

I thought I’d share a quick little story with you guys. I got an email from a friend of mine who plays in the WAKA Potomac league the other day. She said she needed some players for a flip cup team that she was setting up. She wanted to enter a charity flip-cup tournament being held at Dr. Dremo’s. Anyway, I shoot an email out to a couple of teams and pull together some of the best that DCKickball has to offer: Matt Mullin (Plague), Bill Morrissey (Plague) and Greg Louer (Fockers).
So, we show up, four DCKickballers and a Potomac (teams were five apiece) and proceed to utterly devestate our competition. Through our first 2 or 3 rounds, we didn’t lose a single relay/waterfall/whatever. The format was best-of-3. We encountered some resistence in later rounds, one time losing the first relay, only to string off two in a row to win. Bear in mind, we were competing against 23 other teams, the place was packed!
So, long story short, we WIN THE WHOLE THING! The whole kit and caboodle! Mullin was the only person wearing his DCKickball tshirt, and I pretty much wanted to rip it off and start waving over my head. Pictures were taken and prizes awarded (cool glass mugs). I documented the victory on my disposable flip-cup with a permanent marker, vowing never to throw it away.
Anyway, just goes to show (not that there was any doubt), that DCKickball dominates flip-cup.
