Come join DC Kickball in the “Kick the Silence” tournament, hosted by the DC Rape Crisis Center. In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, this kickball tournament is an opportunity for us all to get together and support the awesome work the the DC Rape Crisis Center does in our community. It is also a great chance to practice with your team, meet some new people or just kick some balls.

When: Saturday, April 25th from 9am-6pm
Where: Harriet Tubman Elementary School on 13th & Irving NW (one block from Columbia Heights metro station and across the street from Wonderland)

There is a $200 registration fee per team, but teams can be up to 20 players so $10 to play kickball for the day isn’t too bad and it’s for a great cause.

You must register your team by April 13th.

To join the team, contact Megan Woods at megankwoods[AT]gmail.com or here’s a link to the registration form if you want to organize your own team.

A huge thanks goes out to everyone who made it to the last two DCKickball Volunteer events. Volunteers helped out at the DC Green Festival and also helped prepare food at the DC Central Kitchen which prepares over 4000 meals a day.

The fall season is winding down but DCKickball has one last volunteer event before our winter hiatus. We will be volunteering at the DC Central Kitchen on Saturday November 22nd from 9:00AM to 12:00PM to help prepare meals for the needy. We’re approaching the holiday season and life is pretty good for the majority of us kickball players so let’s take a chance to help those less fortunate.

The DC Central Kitchen conducts a wide variety of programs such as counseling, meal preparation, meal delivery, and training on how to prepare healthy food on a budget. Washington DC is the city of DCKickball so let’s take a few hours to make it a better place.

The DC Central Kitchen is located right near the Judiciary Square Metro (Red Line).

DC Central Kitchen
425 2nd St. NW
Washington, DC 20001

Parking around this area can be difficult so the metro is probably your best bet for getting there. If you are interested in helping out, send an email to me[AT]matt-toigo.com Volunteer slots are limited so RSVP quickly.
