Say hi to Trenae Simpson, our 1,000th Facebook fan! Besides being wicked smaht (Boston zing) she is a proud member of Teachers Who Kick It, playing on Sundays in the Constitution Division.
“I signed up for DCKickball because I think it’s a great way to meet people and experience DC. Also, kickball is a fun sport that everyone remembers from their childhood. I’m really happy that I joined!”
I am just super excited about this, and I’m looking forward to seeing how we can make way better use of Facebook (and Twitter and other social services) to really connect our DCKickball community. Between this summer and fall, we’ve had over 4,300 people kicking balls and drinking beer with us in 2009. Pretty nice way to celebrate our 5th year!

The DCKickball Constitution Division will be throwing an 80s themed party on Saturday 5/30 from 8:00 – 11:00PM at your favorite bar and mine Penn Quarter Sports Tavern (PQST). All proceeds from the party will go to Kicking for Kids Who Can’t. They are a phenomenal charity that helps to raise money so that children can buy prosthetic limbs which they otherwise couldn’t afford. Checkout the short clip below to find out more about them. More details about the party are below.
All night will feature a rad 80s playlist so be sure to lace up the high tops and look fresh. We will also have the flipcup tables setup as well.
You can also find all of the details on the event and more info on facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=106714195478 You are also welcome to bring nonkickballers too so long as they dress 80s and pay up. Other divisions are welcome as well.
Join the Constitution Division for it’s Mid-Season Party at Tom Tom’s in Adams Morgan (2333 18th St NW). It’s an OPEN BAR starting at 8:00 PM until 11:00 PM. Cover is $10 for registered DCK players and $20 for Guests. Also, it happens to be the President’s birthday … that means cupcakes!!! Be prompt or get stuck waiting.
Remember, assuming that:
You drink 15 drinks in 3 hours, that’s $0.75/drink
You drink 10 drinks in 2 hours, that’s $1.00/drink
You drink 5 drinks in 1 hour, that’s $2.00/drink
You drink 1 drink in 30 minutes, that’s $10.00/drink
Got a cool picture from the previous week’s game? There was a lot of fun being had so we’re betting you do. Upload it on Flickr.com and tag it with “dckickballconstitution” or e-mail it to Tom Boudreau (VP of Communications) at tom.boudreau@gmail.com. Tom will choose the one that most documents the fun and will award 2 free pitchers of beer ($20 value) during next week. It’s that easy. You’ll also get your picture featured in the Constitution Division’s weekly e-mail. Get famous, get some beers. Winner.
Ever disagree with an umpire regarding fouls, balls, outs, or perhaps even the score? Frequently lose track of the innings? Forgot to bring a pen and paper to keep track of things? Have an iPhone or iPod touch?
Well Jason Harwig, from the Constitution Divison’s short timers team, has a solution to your problems. Last fall, after umping a kickball game he was inspired and created the iphone application Strikeout (http://pinepointsoftware.com/strikeout/site/). The application is available on the iphone App Store.
He is giving away 10 free copies of Strikeout to the first 10 people who respond to this email. Please email Jack Fan for the codes. If you miss the 10 free copies, you should still check it out, it is only $2.99!!
Looks like those April Showers finally caught up with us. We will be postponing Sunday’s Week 3 Games until after Mother’s Day weekend. That’s May 17 if you don’t have a calendar. All games will shift accordingly so check out our updated schedule on the website. Go to http://dckickball.org/constitution/ and look for the Game Schedule Section.
But this just means it’s time to practice your flip cup skills. Here are the top 5 reasons why you should join us at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern.
Earn points towards the EOS “Most Spirited” Team award with a $100 bar tab for the winning team.
Get a higher seeding for the Divisional Flip Cup Tournament on Saturday, June 20. Remember, the more you win, the more you drink.
Win tickets to an upcoming Washington Nationals Game at the Miller Beer Pen ($50 value).
Drinking with your kickball team is better than doing laundry.
This is a reminder to fellow Kickballers on the Constitution Division. The Kick-off Happy Hours (including free pitchers of beer and hot dogs until they last) is tonight (April 17) for Rookie Teams and tomorrow (April 18) for Veteran Teams. Drinks start at 9:00 PM. Just be sure you’ve recovered by the first week of games starts at 2:00 PM Sunday (April 19). And if you’re hung over, look for samples of something called AfterShots.
And if you haven’t seen them already, check out photos from our Draft/Mixer party on Flickr click here.
