THIS FALL SEASON WAS A DISASTER. GAMES CANCELLED DUE TO DARKNESS. LEAGUE SEEMED VERY POORLY PLANNED. RULES WERE NOT ALWAYS CLEAR. I FEEL THAT MANY FIRST TIMERS WONT RETURN DUE TO CANCELLED GAMES. A REFUND SHOULD BE GIVEN FOR GAMES NOT PLAYED. JUST ON PRINCIPLE.

I liked how playoffs were organized this season, with all of the games on one day, and on the mall (nice change of scenery). Excellent job this year, Im gonna miss kickball!

Thanks for the feedback!

Fall Flip Cup Champs: Bums Strike Back! posted by crabasa on November 6th

IMG_0876.JPG

Amazing turn-out yesterday! We had 14 teams slugging it out for the right to be crowned DCKickball Flip-Cup Champs. Emotions were running high and everyone understood what was on the line. Double elimination gave every team a mulligan, but one team didn’t need it: Bums Strike Back. Congrats!

As crowned champions, they’re walking away with a trophy and free team registration for Winter Indoor Kickball. Much thanks to District Sports for the recognition of excellence!

This Saturday we will be hosting the Flip Cup Championship for the fall season. Oh, and did I mention DCK is buying the kegs? Well, they are. Mmm free beer.

The Details:

Where: Nolans, in Adams Morgan
When: 4pm until there is a champion, double elimination tournament
Who: teams of 6, substitutes allowed, teams can run 2 squads of 6 if they choose

Please contact Matt Mullin regarding how many flip cup squads will be participating from your team if you have not already done so. dckickballmmm@hotmail.com

The More Scrutinizing Details:

1.)If a kickball team decides to field two squads for the tournament EACH SQUAD WILL BE SINGLE ELIMINATION. In other words, we do not want teams fielding two squads to have an unfair advantage over teams with one squad so if you choose to have two squads each squad will be single elimination.

2.)Keep in mind that it will be possible for squads from the same team to have to go head to head thus forcing one squad to eliminate the other. We will do the best that we can when setting up the tournament bracket to avoid this early on in the tournament.
